"It has been a pleasure for me to be a part of this exhibition with my daughter Laura. The positive interaction between us over the past few months has galvanised an already solid relationship, and I am very proud of what she has achieved. This will no doubt be the first of many exhibitions for the two of us together, and the beginning of a long career for Laura.
Our styles and themes for this exhibition are very different, helping to achieve a sense of individuality and self when comparisons can so easily be made. The landscape of the northern parts of Australia is a constant source of inspiration for my paintings; and the theme continues in this exhibition of acrylic and pastel works. There is a return to a more honest representation of the landscape compared with some of my more recent abstract interpretations. While it's difficult to capture the complete magnificence of the landscape, smaller sections focusing on the light, colour and landform have been identified and simplified." |
